JUST IN: Bandits ransack Kano community, abduct five nursing mothers

bandits attack police station in Niger

Bandits have abducted five women in Faruruwa community in Shanono local government area of Kano state.

Residents said the attack took place on Monday night, with four nursing mothers among those seized.

The incident comes amid reports that several local government areas in neighbouring Katsina state have recently entered peace agreements with bandit groups.

Security observers warn that such arrangements may be pushing armed groups into nearby states.

A public affairs commentator, who raised the alarm, said Kano may face increased attacks if proactive steps are not taken.

“Kano State must urgently coordinate with the Katsina government and reinforce frontline security or risk the peace deals in Katsina crippling Kano’s security,” he said.

There has been no official statement yet from the Kano police on the abduction.
