JUST IN: Chief Imam of Owo, Ahmad Aladesawe is Dead

The Chief Imam of Owo and Chairman of the Ondo State League of Imams and Alfas, Sheikh Ahmad Aladesawe, has passed away at the age of 91.

Kamorudeen Ishola, a Muslim leader in Owo, announced the Imam’s death to newsmen on Tuesday, stating that Sheikh Aladesawe died on Monday evening at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, in Ondo State.

The Imam is set to be buried in accordance with Islamic rites at 2 pm on Tuesday in his hometown of Owo, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO) in Ondo State also expressed condolences to his family, the Owo Muslim community, and the nation over the loss.

Abdulwaasii Yusuf, State Missioner of NACOMYO, said in a statement that the entire Muslim youth would deeply miss Sheikh Aladesawe.

Sheikh Aladesawe before his passing served as the Secretary General of Imams and Alfas in the South West, Edo, and Delta States.

He was widely admired for his contributions to the growth of Islam and peace-building efforts across Ondo State and beyond.
