A Federal High Court sitting in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital, has upheld the suspension of Ali Odefa as the National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The court’s decision was made on Friday.

Odefa was suspended from the party on October 4, 2024, by the executive committee of the party at his Oguduokwor Ward in Onicha local government area of Ebonyi State. The party executives cited anti-party activities for the suspension.

However, Odefa disputed the suspension, claiming that it was null and void. He argued that those who carried out the suspension were not bona fide ward executives of the party.

Despite his objections, the court ruled in favour of the party, upholding Odefa’s suspension.

In the judgment for suit no FHC/AI/CS/182/2024 between Herbert Ovuta and Odefa, the presiding Judge, Justice Hilary Oshomah, ruled that the suspension was valid. The court also ordered Odefa to cease presenting himself as the National Vice Chairman of the party.
