The Federal Government is said to have moved the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu from the Department of Security Services (DSS) facility to a correctional facility.
This was disclosed by a counsel to the IPOB leader, Aloy Ejimakor on X on Friday, November.
In a post made on X, Ejimakor said his client who has since his arrest being detained in the Abuja facility of DSS was moved to Sokoto – far away from his lawyers, family and loved ones.
Ejimakor wrote on X, “Breaking: MAZI NNAMDI KANU has just been moved from DSS Abuja to the correctional facility (prison) in Sokoto; so far away from his lawyers, family, loved ones and well-wishers.
Recall that a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday, November 20, sentenced the Biafra agitator to life imprisonment over acts of terrorism.
The judge over the matter, Justice James Omotosho, convicted Mr Kanu on all seven charges levelled against him by the DSS.
Justice Omotosho while delivering the judgment said he ought to sentence the convict to death considering the gravity of his offences against the state.
While also accusing the IPOB leader of lacking remorse, Justice Omotosho said Kanu was receiving a life imprisonment because of his (the judge’s) scriptural persuasion to be merciful.
