The federal government through the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has temporarily shut down its recruitment application portal.
The decision comes after reports of technical hitches and security concerns plaguing the platform.
The board announced the suspension via its verified X handle on Thursday morning, stating that the portal, https://recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng, will be inaccessible until Monday, July 21, 2025.
According to the official statement, “As part of efforts to optimise the efficiency of its system, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) announces that the portal has been temporarily suspended.” The CDCFIB clarified that this measure is intended to manage the high volume of applications and ensure “a smooth, transparent, and fair recruitment process.”
“We appreciate the enthusiasm and interest of young Nigerians to serve their country through these vital agencies and are committed to ensuring a fair and transparent recruitment process,” said Secretary to the Board, Maj. Gen. AM Jibril (rtd), who signed the announcement.
This latest suspension follows a series of delays that have affected the recruitment drive. The application window was initially slated for June 26 but was later postponed to July 14.
However, on the rescheduled date, numerous applicants reported significant access issues and glitches, coupled with concerns about the platform’s security.
While the CDCFIB did not provide specific details regarding the nature of the glitches or potential breaches, it assured the public of its commitment to resolving these system issues.
With over a million applications anticipated nationwide, this delay adds to the growing anxiety among hopefuls seeking positions in the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Nigeria Correctional Service, the Federal Fire Service, and the Nigeria Immigration Service.
Applicants are urged to remain patient and watch for further updates before the revised reopening date.
