A fire outbreak has destroyed various goods and property at 57 Azikiwe Street, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The incident which led to the destruction of property worth millions happened in the early hours of Friday, August 15, 2025.
Politics Nigeria gathered that the fire outbreak started at about 3 am in the area which is highly populated.
Residents who spoke about the incident said the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Officials of the Rivers State Fire Service who were already at the scene were seen making efforts to quench the fire which had ravaged major parts of the building.
Sources said the building has two different sections housing about 35 rooms making it difficult for immediate access.
While the fire has been brought under control as at press time, a shop owner, who deals in ice block machines said he lost millions in the outbreak.
“Both the ice block machines, even the ones companies gave me to mould, have been destroyed as you can see. I don’t have anybody to run to,” Wisdom Jack said.
Rivers Police spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko who spoke about the incident assured that details on the incident will be made available soon.
