The former lawmaker who represented Niger North Senatorial District, Ibrahim Musa Kontagora is dead.
Kontagora wasy said to have died at a private hospital in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city after a brief illness.
The Niger State government while announcing his death said the former lawmaker will be buried today according to Islamic rites.
A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Usman said, “The Senator Ibrahim died today (Thursday) in Abuja after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated service to his people and the nation at large”.
Usman in the statement expressed sorrow over the passing of the former lawmaker.
He also condoled with the people of the state and his family over the passing of the late ex-senator.
The late former lawmaker served at the National Assembly under the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
Having served between 2011 and 2015, the deceased former lawmaker was referred to by many politicians as a great loyalist to Nigeria’s former president, the late Muhammadu Buhari.
