The Osun State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Igbajo in Boluwaduro Local Government Area following a breakdown of law and order in the community.
In a statement issued by Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Governor Ademola Adeleke approved the curfew after receiving intelligence from the Office of the Special Adviser on Security, Barr. Samuel Ojo.
Authorities say the unrest, which escalated from Sunday night into Monday morning, is linked to tensions following the death of Prince Adegboyega Famodun last week.
Governor Adeleke condemned the development and warned that his administration would not tolerate any action capable of disrupting peace in the state.
“As a government that believes in ensuring peace and order at all times, my administration will not fold its arms to allow the breach of law and order anywhere in the state,” the governor said.
He directed security agencies, including the Army, Police, DSS, and NSCDC, to maintain round-the-clock surveillance in the town until calm is fully restored.
While commiserating with the late Famodun’s family and the entire Igbajo community, the governor urged residents to remain peaceful, warning that anyone found instigating or participating in further unrest will face the law.
