JUST IN: Gov Otu dissolves Cross River’s LG Service Commission Board

Bassey Otu

The governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu has announced the dissolution of the state’s Board of the Local Government Service Commission.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the governor said the board was dissolved after his administration discovered cases of abuse of office and mismanagement of the recent job recruitment process in the commission.

His words, “My dear people of Cross River State, I want to let you know that I have dissolved the Board of the Local Government Service Commission. This is because we discovered serious abuse of office and cheating in the recent job recruitment.”

Describing the anomalies as wrong and unfair, Governor Otu said such actions undermine true governance and betray public trust in government.

“What happened was wrong and unfair.

It betrayed the trust you placed in us.

The recruitment exercise that was already stopped will remain suspended.

“We will start it again properly, clean, open, and based on merit, so that only qualified people get the jobs,” Otu said.

He further assured the people of the state that he would not tolerate any form of corruption in government or by public officers as such impeded the state’s growth process.

He added, “We will continue to take strong steps to make our institutions honest and trustworthy.

“Together, we will build a better Cross River State where things are done the right way,” Otu stated.
