JUST IN: Hoodlums disrupt security stakeholders meeting in Katsina

Some get yet-to-be-identified political thugs have disrupted a security stakeholders’ meeting taking place in Katsina.

The meeting, Politics Nigeria gathered was convened to strategise on ways to tackle the incessant killings and attacks by bandits in the state.

Organised by the Katsina Security Community Initiative, the meeting was disrupted by thugs on Tuesday, forcing participants and key stakeholders to disperse.

Trouble started when the converter, Bashir Kurfi had just commenced presentation on how various Local Government Ateas have been shut down due to the activities of bandits.

During the presentation, a yet-to-be-identified man interrupted the speaker.

The man accused Kurfi of making anti-government comments.

This immediately degenerated the situation to a violent attack as others joined him in throwing chairs at other participants and journalists present.

According to witnesses, the attackers who wielded knives threatened to attack anyone deemed an enemy of the government.

In his reaction, Kurfi alleged that the thugs were being sponsored by the government in power.

He said, “We are not here to castigate government. Our aim is to find solutions to the bloodshed affecting our people.”
