WATCH THE VIDEO HERE The Sole Administrator of of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retired) has been summoned to appear before the House of Representatives Committee on Rivers State Oversight. The invitation to Ibas comes barely 24 hours after the 21-member committee was inaugurated by the Speaker of the House. In a statement issued by the spokesperson for the House, Akin Rotimi, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State has been invited for a comprehensive interactive session with lawmakers of the Green Chambers. Rotimi also said that the invitation follows the committee’s inaugural meeting on Tuesday. He said availed the committee members and leaders the opportunity to deliberate on emerging issues in Rivers State since Ibas assumed office as the state’s Aole Administrator. “Pursuant to its constitutional mandate to exercise full legislative oversight in accordance with Section 11(4) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Committee resolved, among other matters, to invite Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, to appear before it for a comprehensive interactive session. “According to the Chairman of the Committee and House Leader, Hon. (Prof.) Julius Ihonvbere, OON: “This engagement is necessary to ascertain the true state of affairs in Rivers State and ensure that the House remains properly guided in the discharge of its oversight responsibilities in the public interest,” Rotimi noted. He stated that Ibas is expected to appear before the House committee on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 4:00 PM, in Room 414, House of Representatives New Building, National Assembly Complex, Abuja. He added that a formal letter of the invitation has been sent to Ibas even as the statement issued on the matter is aimed at reinforcing transparency in the House committee’s proceedings. “The Committee reiterates its commitment to fulfilling its duties with diligence, transparency, and strict adherence to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Rotimi said.
