The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has met with domestic airline operators in Abuja following reports of flight disruptions and service-related issues.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the meeting focused on regulatory compliance concerning unruly passenger behaviour, refund and compensation delays, passenger handling protocols, enforcement of in-flight phone switch-off rules, and enhanced protection for cabin crew members.
The NCAA noted that complaints from air travellers have risen in recent months, necessitating the need for dialogue with operators to ensure strict adherence to industry regulations.
The meeting followed a series of high-profile incidents involving confrontations between passengers, crew members, and airline staff.
In August, a female passenger on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo reportedly assaulted a flight attendant and later clashed with security officials at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. Days earlier, popular Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, known as KWAM1, was also linked to disruptive conduct aboard a flight.
