Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted consignments of illicit drugs, including Ketamine, Ecstasy and Tramadol pills, concealed in sachets of coffee mix and book parcels heading to Zambia and the United Kingdom.
This was made known in a statement to Naijaonpoint on Sunday by NDLEA Spokesperson, Femi Babafemi.
The seizures were made at a courier company in Lagos on December 24 and 29, 2025.
The development came as the agency also took into custody 22 Indian crew members of a merchant vessel, MV Aruna Hulya, following the seizure of 31.5 kilograms of cocaine at the GDNL terminal, Apapa Port, Lagos, on Friday, January 2, 2026.
31.5kg Cocaine Found on Vessel at Apapa Port
Those arrested in connection with the cocaine concealed in Hatch 3 of the vessel, which originated from the Marshall Islands, include the Master of the vessel, Sharma Shashi Bhushan, and 21 other crew members.
They are: Bharati Manoj Kumar; Bhalerao Nilesh Mukund; Nadar Anthony Macson David; Kolusu Srinivasa Rao; Sagar Gaurav; Francis Anto Beemas Nester; Jagdeep Singh; Jai Parkash; Prabhukhan Singh; Nevage Sandesh Suresh; Pandey Prashant; Nittu Anand; Akash Babu; Dasari Raju; Reddy Nandika Sanjeeba; Rana Nivesh; Melethil Insaf Rahman; Barla Chantanya Krishna; Ghosh Arijit; Mondal Raihan; and Gangwar Shiv Om.
Drug Kingpin ‘Mama Kerosine’ Arrested
In Oyo State, NDLEA operatives on Monday, December 29, 2025, arrested a wanted female drug kingpin identified as Fatima Ilori, popularly known as Mama Kerosine.
The 65-year-old was described as a major illicit drug distributor in Ibadan. She was apprehended during an intelligence-led operation following the seizure of 238.4kg of skunk, a strain of cannabis, linked to her.
She was arrested alongside another female suspect, Olusanya Abosede, 35, at the Onireke/Elekuro area of Ibadan.
Tramadol Supply Chain to Insurgents Disrupted in Borno
In Borno State, NDLEA operatives further disrupted the supply chain of illicit drugs to insurgents with the arrest of two suspected suppliers.
One of the suspects, Isa Mohammed, 26, was arrested along the Maiduguri–Gamboru Ngala road on Friday, January 2, 2026, following the interception of 9,150 ampoules of Tramadol Injection.
The second suspect, Musa Samaila, 30, was arrested the same day at Biu Market with 34,000 capsules of Tramadol.
Large Cannabis Seizures in Lagos, Jigawa and Kwara
In Lagos, not less than 400kg of skunk was recovered alongside a van at the Mobolaji Johnson area on New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1, 2026.
Similarly, NDLEA operatives in Jigawa State arrested Bilya Ibrahim, 39, at a motor park in Hadejia town on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, while attempting to transport 260 compressed blocks of skunk weighing 140.8kg from Taraba State to Nguru, Yobe State.
In Kwara State, officers on Tuesday, December 30, recovered 238.5kg of skunk from the home of a suspect at the Asadam area of Ilorin.
Another suspect, Abubakar Rabiu, 32, was arrested at Bode Saadu, Moro Local Government Area, on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, with 32,000 pills of Tramadol and Diazepam.
NDLEA Intensifies Anti-Drug Sensitisation Campaign
Meanwhile, NDLEA commands across the country continued their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation activities in schools, worship centres, workplaces and communities.
These included enlightenment lectures at Madrasatu Fadimatul Zahra, Sabuwar Abuja, Kankia LGA of Katsina State; engagements with members of the Topo Youth Progressive Organisation in Badagry, Lagos; and outreach to residents of Madalla community at the palace of the Hakimi of Madalla in Niger State, among others.
Commending the officers and men of DOGI, Apapa, Oyo, Borno, Lagos, Kwara and Jigawa commands for the arrests and seizures, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Mohamed Buba Marwa, urged them and their colleagues nationwide to intensify ongoing drug control efforts.
