The recruitment portal of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited is currently inaccessible to interested applicants.

Naijaonpoint reported earlier that the petroleum company announced on Friday morning that it is hiring.

However, hours after this announcement, interested candidates have found it difficult to process their applications.

In an attempt to allay fears, the NNPC declared that its employment application website is currently facing technical issues due to an unexpected increase in user activity.

In a message on its social media account, NNPCL stated that it was actively working to resolve the issues with the website.

It maintained that the deadline for applications set for August 20 remains unchanged.

The statement reads: “Due to unprecedented traffic to the NNPC Ltd. career page from applicants applying for vacancies, the site is currently experiencing slow load times.

“Our technicians are working diligently to rectify the problem as quickly as possible. Please be assured that the application process deadline remains August 20, 2024.”

The petroleum company also reassured applicants of a transparent and merit-based recruitment process, urging capable Nigerians to take advantage of this unique opportunity.

Meanwhile, Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has made startling revelations about the quality of fuel being imported into Nigeria.

During a visit by the leadership of the House of Representatives, led by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and his deputy, Benjamin Kalu, Dangote accused some staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited and oil traders of operating a blending plant in Malta, Europe.

Dangote highlighted the superior quality of products produced at the Dangote Refinery compared to those imported by other marketers.

He emphasized that the substandard fuel being imported has caused significant damage to many vehicles in the country.

“I still stand by what I said. Go to filling stations, and you can check the quality. That is the only way,” Dangote stated.

“We know where they blend these things. Some of the NNPC people and some traders have opened a blending plant somewhere off Malta. We all know these areas. We know what they are doing.”

This revelation came over the weekend when Dangote hosted the House leadership at his office. He stressed the importance of ensuring high-quality fuel for the Nigerian market to prevent further damage to vehicles and machinery.
