Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has approved the appointment of Barr. Kasimu Otono as Special Adviser (Oil & Gas) to the Governor.
Naijaonpoint recalls that Okpebholo had suspended Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, Felix Osemwengie Isere.
Isere was suspended for allegedly engaging in unauthorized fundraising in the name of the state government.
The governor directed the immediate suspension of Isere for using the name of the Edo State Government to solicit funds for a proposed Oil and Gas Summit scheduled to hold in Benin City on Thursday, August 7, 2025.
The statement read: “It is hereby announced for the information of the General Public that the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo has ordered the suspension of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Oil and Gas, Felix Osemwengie Isere from office, for unauthorized fund raising, using the name of Edo State Government for the proposed Oil and Gas Summit.”
In a statement to Naijaonpoint on Friday morning, the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, announced the appointment of Otono to replace Isere.
The statement reads: “It is hereby announced for the information of the General Public that the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo has approved the appointment of Barr. Kasimu Otono as Special Adviser (Oil & Gas) to the Governor.
“Barr. Kasimu Otono, who replaces the suspended immediate-past Special Adviser, Mr. Felix Isere, is a Legal Practitioner, real estate entrepreneur, philanthropist and community mobilizer.
“He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and International Bar Association. He is currently a Senior Partner at Kay & Kay Legal, a lawfirm specializing in Commercial, Real Estate, and Oil & Gas Law and Practice.”
