The Nigerian Senate is set to commence the screening of several ambassadorial nominees following their arrival at the National Assembly Complex.
Naijaonpoint reports that nominees who turned up on Thursday for screening by the lawmakers include former presidential spokesperson, Reno Omokri, former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, Senator Grace Bent, and former Interior Minister Abdulrahman Dambazau.
The nominees are set to be screened two weeks after President Bola Tinubu nominated them for appointment and forwarded their names to the Senate for screening and approval.
The nominees include several prominent political figures, notably the immediate past Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu; former governors Okezie Ikpeazu and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; former presidential aide Reno Omokri; and former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode.
The list includes four women nominated as career ambassador nominees and six others nominated for the non-career positions.
The Senate screening process will determine whether the nominees receive confirmation for their diplomatic postings.
