The Presidency has dismissed reports claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume.
Naijaonpoint reports that the clarification was made known in a statement on Saturday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The Presidency stated that reports claiming Tinubu has replaced Akume are untrue.
According to the statement, the reports were fabricated by agents of mischief.
The statement titled ‘Akume remains SGF’, reads: “There has been no change in the status of His Excellency, Senator George Akume, as Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, currently in Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments.
“The information circulating about Akume’s replacement is untrue. Agents of mischief fabricated it.
“The Presidency advises Nigerians to disregard the fake news.”
Naijaonpoint reports that this is coming 24 hours after the sudden resignation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.
Ganduje had cited the need to take care of his health as his reason for stepping down from his position.
