Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos State, has signed the N4.4 trillion 2026 budget into law.
The signing ceremony was held on Monday at the conference room of Lagos House, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja.
The Lagos State House Of Assembly had passed the spending plan in January, approving it under the theme “Budget of Shared Prosperity”.
The lawmakers approved a bill authorising the issuance and appropriation of ₦4,444,509,776,438 for the 2026 fiscal year.
Those in attendance included Obafemi Hamzat, deputy governor; members of the state executive council; Bode Agoro, head of service; legislators of the Lagos state house of assembly; and other key officials.
While presenting the appropriation bill to the assembly in November 2025, Sanwo-Olu said the budget was crafted to expand prosperity and ensure inclusive development across the state.
“Our mission remains clear: to eradicate poverty and build a Lagos that works for all,” the governor said.
“Our vision continues to guide every fiscal decision we make—to deliver a Greater Lagos where shared prosperity is not an aspiration but a lived and felt reality.”
Sanwo-Olu explained that the budget rests on four pillars covering a human-centred approach, modern infrastructure, economic growth and effective governance, in line with the state’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda.
