The senate has approved the appointments of 64 individuals as ambassadors following its screening exercise.
Of the confirmed nominees, 34 are career ambassadors, while 30 were appointed from non-career positions.
Those cleared as career ambassadors include Arewa Esther from Oyo, Adeola-Ibrahim Mopelola from Ogun, Ramat Omonbolale from Lagos, Monica Okechukwu Enebechi from Anambra, Adams Bassey from Cross River, Clark Efe from Delta, Mohammed Lele from Bauchi, Muhammad Dahiru from Kaduna and Ahmed Monguno from Borno.
Other career nominees approved by the upper chamber include additional diplomats drawn from various states across the federation.
Among the non-career ambassadors confirmed are Onueze Okocha from Rivers, Femi Pedro from Lagos, Isaac Adewole from Osun, Chioma Ohakim from Imo, Ajimobi Florence from Oyo, Sulola Akande from Oyo, Uguwanyi Ifeanyi from Enugu and Ita Enang from Akwa Ibom.
The list of non-career appointees also features Femi Fani-Kayode from Osun, Jimoh Ibrahim from Ondo, Jerry Manwe from Taraba, Reno Omokri from Delta, Ibas Ibok-Ette from Cross River, Abdulrahman Dambazzau from Kano and Abas Braimah from Edo.
The confirmations followed the senate’s earlier approval of three additional non-career ambassadors.
With the latest approvals, the total number of ambassadorial nominees confirmed by the senate now stands at 67.
