Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District has been denied entry into the National Assembly Complex.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was denied entry by security operatives deployed to the National Assembly on Tuesday, July 22.
The lawmaker who tried to gain access to the complex was driven in a black SUV but was stopped by security agents.
Also, the vehicle conveying Aisha Yusufu, an activist and businesswoman who accompanied the lawmaker to the National Assembly was blocked from entering the complex.
Following this, Akpoti-Uduaghan alighted from her vehicle and made her way into the National Assembly on foot.
She walked past the entrance of the complex alongside some of her supporters who joined her in protest of the Senate leadership’s directives against her resumption at the National Assembly.
Recall that a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had earlier described the six-month suspension slammed on Akpoti-Uduaghan by the Nigerian Senate as illegal and unconstitutional.
While the leadership of the Senate has appealed the court the decision, Akpoti-Uduaghan had vowed to resume duties as a lawmaker at the National Assembly.
