Senegal secured their place in the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday night following a hard-fought 1–0 win over Egypt, courtesy of a stunning late strike from Sadio Mané.

The victory sends the Teranga Lions to their second final in three tournaments and keeps their hopes alive for a second continental crown.

The semi-final was a tightly contested affair from the start, with both teams showing strong defensive organisation and ending the first half goalless.

Senegal controlled possession but struggled to break through Egypt’s disciplined backline, with goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy making several crucial saves to deny Mané and Pape Gueye.

After the break, Senegal increased the tempo and were finally rewarded in the 78th minute. Mané received the ball outside the penalty area and unleashed a superb right-footed shot into the bottom left corner, leaving El Shenawy helpless.

Egypt pressed for an equaliser in the closing stages, with substitute Omar Marmoush coming close to scoring, but Senegal goalkeeper Édouard Mendy held firm with key saves to maintain the lead.

Senegal will now face the winner of the other semi-final between Nigeria and hosts Morocco later on Wednesday night.
