Governors of the South-West states are set to gather in Ibadan on Monday for an urgent, unscheduled meeting to discuss critical regional issues, particularly escalating security concerns in the zone.
The closed-door meeting, scheduled to hold at the Governor’s Office in Agodi, is being hosted by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.
All six governors from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti are expected to be in attendance.
Although full details are still unclear, sources say the meeting was hastily convened to address rising security threats, accelerate infrastructural development, and deepen regional cooperation under the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN).
The governors are also expected to review existing joint security operations, including the activities of the Amotekun Corps, with plans to strengthen its capacity in response to emerging challenges.
