Nigeria has remained unchanged in the latest FIFA men’s world rankings released on Monday, retaining its 38th position globally in the December 2025 edition.
The Super Eagles kept their November total of 1,502 points after recording no competitive fixtures since the last ranking update.
Nigeria is ranked fifth on the African continent, trailing Morocco, Senegal, Egypt and Algeria.
Morocco continues to lead Africa and sits 11th worldwide, while Senegal occupies 19th place on the global chart.
Algeria and Egypt are placed 34th and 35th respectively, with Nigeria following closely behind in 38th position.
Tunisia, ranked 41st globally, Côte d’Ivoire in 42nd, Mali in 53rd, DR Congo in 56th and Cameroon in 57th complete Africa’s continental top ten.
Spain remains the world’s top-ranked team after reclaiming first place from Argentina in September 2025.
France holds third position globally, while England, Brazil, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Croatia complete the unchanged top ten.
The December 2025 rankings, which conclude the calendar year, were influenced by 42 international matches, with the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 dominating the period.
Morocco’s triumph at the tournament moved the Atlas Lions within 0.54 points of Croatia, leaving them close to a first top-ten ranking since April 1998.
Kosovo emerged as one of the standout performers of 2025 after climbing 19 places to 80th, following seven wins and two draws from 10 matches.
Norway, ranked 29th, and Suriname, placed 123rd, also recorded notable progress during the year.
Jordan, Vietnam and Singapore posted the biggest rises in December, each moving up between two and three positions to 64th, 107th and 148th respectively.
