Several people have reportedly been abducted along the Omi-Odo Ara Road in Yagba West Local Government Area, local sources said.

The incident occurred earlier today, Tuesday, December 30, 2025, though the exact number of victims and their identities are yet to be confirmed.

Residents said security agencies have been alerted, and they are urging people in nearby communities to exercise extreme caution, limit unnecessary movement, and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

This comes a day after a similar attack in the area. SaharaReporters had reported on Monday that tension gripped Odo-Ere community following a coordinated Sunday night raid by armed assailants, which led to the abduction of at least four residents.

Those kidnapped during that attack were identified as Engr. Shina Ajere, Mr. Kehinde Afolabi, Damilola Ogun, and a woman popularly known in the community as Iya Lara.

According to witnesses, the attackers, believed to be heavily armed, moved from house to house, firing sporadically. However, the total number of abducted residents remains unclear, raising fears that more people may have been taken.

Egbe Mekun, another local resident, said the assailants also targeted an apartment building, leaving visible bullet marks, though they were unable to gain entry.

Residents described the scene as chaotic and terrifying, with the sound of gunfire echoing throughout the community.

Following the attack, community members appealed to security agencies and the Kogi State Government to deploy additional personnel to the area and intensify efforts to secure the release of the abducted individuals.

Odo-Ere and other communities in Yagba West have recently experienced repeated attacks by armed groups, highlighting growing insecurity and the vulnerability of rural communities in Kogi State.
