Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan says President Bola Tinubu has instructed the Attorney-General of the Federation to discontinue all cases filed against her.
She shared this during a live broadcast on Facebook on Tuesday.
According to her, the President had already resolved the matter and directed the AGF, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, to end the legal actions.
However, she claimed she was still stopped from flying out of the country at the airport.
Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged that her international passport was seized by immigration officers following what she described as political interference.
She accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of blocking her travel despite the President’s directive.
“There was no order. Yes, I know I have two Federal Government cases against me, of which the President of Nigeria instructed the Attorney-General of the Federation to cancel, to withdraw the cases,” she said.
She added that Tinubu told Akpabio to “terminate all the cases” because they were politically motivated.
The visibly frustrated senator said her passport had been held for over 20 minutes.
She questioned why Akpabio would allegedly override the President’s instruction and said such actions were unlawful.
“Is Godswill Akpabio so important? Why is he overruling boundaries?” she asked during the video, insisting immigration officers had no right to seize her passport.
She also revealed this was not the first time she had been barred from travelling.
The senator has been facing federal charges filed in Abuja courts earlier this year.
The cases accused her of making statements said to damage the reputations of Senate President Akpabio and former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello.
It could be recalled that in May 2025, fresh charges marked FHC/ABJ/CR/195/25 were filed against her, coming shortly after another case CR/297/25 was lodged at the FCT High Court.
However, both matters triggered debate over alleged political persecution.
