JUST IN: Tinubu reacts to Abuja-Kaduna train accident

President Bola Tinubu has reacted to the accident which occurred on the Abuja-Kaduna train track on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

In a statement released on his official X page, the president who is away in Brazil said he has received reports on the derailment of the Abuja-Kaduna train.

Also expressing his sadness over the incident, the president offered his heartfelt prayer to the six travellers who were injured in the accident.

He said, “Even while in Brazil, I have received reports of today’s Abuja–Kaduna train derailment.

“I am deeply saddened by this incident. My heartfelt prayers are with the injured, their families, and all passengers who went through this distressing experience.

He further stated that he is staying updated with developments as regards the incident while awaiting a full briefing on the matter.

Tinubu wrote, “I am staying updated on the latest developments and await a full briefing to ensure swift action and support for all affected.

“The NRC is already addressing the situation, and necessary steps are expected to be taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future,” he added.
