President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the senate to confirm nominees for the leadership of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
The request followed the resignation of Farouk Ahmed, former chief executive of the NMDPRA, and Gbenga Komolafe, former chief executive of the NUPRC.
Both Ahmed and Komolafe were appointed in 2021 by late President Muhammadu Buhari to head the petroleum regulatory bodies established under the Petroleum Industry Act.
In separate communications addressed to the senate, Tinubu nominated Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as chief executive of the NUPRC.
The president also nominated Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as chief executive of the NMDPRA.
