Two people have been killed in a fresh attack by some gunmen in Daron village in Gyel District, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Punch reports that the gunmen who invaded the community at about 7.50 pm on Tuesday, October 21, also left one person injured after the attack.
Residents who spoke on the incident said the attackers had stormed the community after an early warning planned raid. They were said to have shot sporadically into the air.
Solomon Dalyop, the youth leader and president of Berom Youths Moulders Association while confirming the attack on the community said the gunmen are suspected to be armed Fulani people.
“In another turn of events at about 7:50 pm on 21st October, 2025, bandits suspected to be armed Fulani attacked and shot dead two people, among whom is Mr Pam Choji, and one was injured at Daron village of Gyel District in Jos South LGA,” Dalyop said.
He also stated that there had been early warning of possible raids on villages in Gyel and neighbouring settlements before the incident happened.
“The bandits, suspected to be armed Fulani, just opened fire on the community. The attack followed an early warning of planned attacks on villages of Gyel and neighbouring settlements,” he said.
Also confirming the killings, Alabo Alfred, the spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command said personnel of the Force have been deployed to the community.
Alfred stated, “Yes, we are aware of the incident. We have just finished our monthly press briefing, and we are moving to the community right now.”
Recall that Plateau State has been in the news over recurring attacks in various communities of the state by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.
On October 9, 2025, two people were killed by gunmen along the Barkin Ladi-Dorowa Babuje road in Plateau State.
These attacks have not only led to deaths and injuries but also the displacement of households, families, women and children who have been turned into widows and orphans.
Also, the governor of the State, Caleb Mutfwang has assured that his administration is committed to working with security agencies and their personnel to nip the activities of these killers.
