The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) has delivered military supplies to Nigerian security agencies in support of ongoing security operations across the country.
AFRICOM disclosed this in a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday, noting that the delivery underscores the security partnership between both countries.
“US forces delivered critical military supplies to our Nigerian partners in Abuja. This delivery supports Nigeria’s ongoing operations and emphasizes our shared security partnership,” the command stated.
Nigeria has continued to battle rising insecurity in recent times, with cases of kidnapping and terrorist attacks reported in several parts of the country.
The delivery comes weeks after US forces carried out airstrikes on terrorist enclaves in North-West Nigeria on Christmas Day, as part of efforts to curb insurgency and violent activities.
