The Delta State government has confirmed the arrest of two popular social media influencers, Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, and Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi, popularly called Mr Jollof, following a physical altercation at Asaba International Airport.
Mr Ossai Success, senior special assistant on media to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, confirmed the incident and expressed disappointment over the behavior of the two men.
The confrontation occurred while the duo was boarding United Nigeria Airlines Flight UN0523, scheduled to depart for Lagos on 17 November 2025.
Eyewitnesses said the disagreement began during the boarding process and quickly escalated into a physical fight, causing panic among passengers.
Airline crew members immediately intervened in accordance with international safety rules, ensuring that the situation did not worsen.
Both VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof were removed from the flight and handed over to airport security.
Airline officials confirmed that the men have been temporarily taken off the passenger list pending further investigation.
A video of the incident has gone viral online, showing the two influencers engaging in a heated scuffle inside the aircraft.
Ossai Success shared his reaction on social media, saying: “I saw VeryDarkMan collecting beating from Mr Jollof this morning at the Asaba International Airport. They have been unboarded and arrested. I am really disappointed in both of them for fighting inside an aircraft when they should have done that on the roadside. VDM nor get mind and e get talk carelessly. I am really disappointed. Passengers who witnessed the incident described a chaotic scene. “It was shocking. One moment we were boarding, the next these two were pushing and shoving each other. The crew acted fast, but everyone was startled,” said one eyewitness.
United Nigeria Airlines also released a statement confirming the altercation and reaffirming its commitment to passenger safety.
The airline assured the public that the matter is under review and that appropriate actions are being taken in line with aviation safety regulations.
