WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in Kano on Friday afternoon to assess the manufacturing environment in the state so as to promote industrial growth and bring about job creation. The visit comes amidst a heavy police presence at the palace of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II. Shettima will visit the Mamuda Group, a local multi-industry conglomerate, where he will engage with the company’s executive leadership. The Vice President will also tour the Mamuda Beverages Factory, located in the Challawa Industrial Estate, where he will inspect critical sections of the facility, including the syrup room, production line, and water treatment unit. However, the Vice President’s visit comes at a time of heightened tension in the state, with armed policemen and operatives of the secret police surrounding the Emir’s palace, restricting entry and exit. The current tension reportedly stems from the Emir’s intention to accompany Munir Sanusi to his official district posting in Bichi, despite existing disputes over the legitimacy of the Bichi Emirate Council. The emirship tussle in the state has been an issue since May, with the Kano State Government and the deposed Emir of Kano Ado Bayero at odds over the rightful occupant of the throne.
