The Special Adviser on Public Communications and Media to President Bola Tinubu, Daniel Bwala has questioned Arise Television for awarding Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, despite previously criticizing him.

Bwala made the remark during the TV channel’s The Morning Show.

He was responding to TV anchor Rufai Oseni’s inquiry about his decision to serve in the same government he had previously criticized.

Bwala explained that his views had changed after meeting with President Tinubu, rendering his past criticisms irrelevant.

However, Oseni countered that Bwala’s shift in stance indicated a lack of conviction.

In response, Bwala said, “Everyday Wike Wike Wike and you went on to nominate him as the best Minister of the year, that shows you’re not a station of convictions.”

Oseni defended the award, stating it was based on the choice of readers of THISDAY Newspaper and viewers of the ARISE NEWS Channel.

Wike was recently named Thisday Newspaper and Arise Television’s Minister of the Year 2024, with the award ceremony held on January 27, 2025, at Eko Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Prior to his appointment, Bwala had accused President Tinubu of rigging the last presidential election and questioned his moral legitimacy. He was a spokesman for the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.
