A Senior Advocate of Nigeria and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Osun State, Kunle Rasheed Adegoke K-RAD, has issued a strong caution to commercial drivers and car owners as the rainy season intensifies across the state.

In a statement released on Thursday, Adegoke urged all motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads to avoid unnecessary accidents and loss of lives.

He warned that wet and slippery road conditions could lead to hazardous situations, urging drivers to adopt preventive measures to ensure safety for themselves and other road users.

Adegoke emphasized the need for regular vehicle checks, noting that tires, brakes, wipers, and lights must be in perfect working condition, especially during this period of heavy rain.

“Ensure your tires, brakes, wipers, and lights are in good condition. Worn tires or faulty brakes can lead to accidents on slippery roads” he said.

The APC chieftain also advised motorists to reduce their speed during rainfall and to maintain a safe distance from other vehicles to avoid hydroplaning or rear-end collisions.

He strongly warned against driving through flooded roads, noting that even shallow water could stall vehicles or sweep them away.

“Turn on your headlights, even during the day, to improve visibility in heavy rain or fog.Watch out for pedestrians, cyclists, and other vehicles. Rain can reduce visibility and make roads more unpredictable.” Adegoke advised.

He called on drivers to avoid sharp turns, sudden braking, or acceleration, explaining that such maneuvers could cause skidding on wet roads.

Adegoke appealed to both commercial and private car owners to plan their routes, stay alert, and prioritize safety.

“Let’s work together to prevent accidents and ensure safe travels during this rainy season,” he added.
