As political consultations gather pace ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship race, frontline All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant, Rasheed Kunle Adegoke (SAN), popularly known as K-RAD, on over the weekend intensified his engagements with party stakeholders during a strategic visit to his birthplace, Osogbo.
The visit covered both Osogbo and Olorunda local government areas on Saturday and Sunday where K-RAD met with APC elders, support groups, and grassroots mobilizers to further his bid for the party’s ticket.
Addressing party faithful, K-RAD reiterated his commitment to a leadership style anchored on inclusion, accountability, and impact-driven governance. He promised to prioritize policies that will address the real needs of Osun citizens through a pragmatic and people-first agenda.
“We’ve made visible contributions within the APC and in our communities—our records are clear,” he said. “By Allah’s grace, if entrusted with leadership, I will implement programs focused on agriculture, youth and human capital development, elderly care, local economic revitalization, and participatory development.”
K-RAD emphasized that his blueprint draws inspiration from the reformist legacy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the administrative excellence of former Osun Governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.
“Our model is rooted in the progressive vision of President Tinubu and the solid foundation laid by our mentor, H.E. Adegboyega Oyetola. We will build on this legacy to advance Osun’s development trajectory,” he added.
The visit to Osogbo came just a day after Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola officially announced that he would not be contesting the 2026 governorship election—a revelation that has significantly boosted the aspiration of K-RAD.
At a stakeholders’ meeting held on Friday at the Ileri-Oluwa Campaign Office in Osogbo, Oyetola disclosed:
“It is official. I am no longer interested in the 2026 governorship race. I wish all the aspirants well in their aspirations. Let us all support whoever emerges as the party’s candidate.”
The Minister used the occasion to commend the decorum and maturity displayed by the aspirants so far and urged them to continue in that spirit.
“We are one political family. Avoid campaigns of calumny, bitterness, or acrimony. Whoever emerges should be supported by all,” he appealed.
Oyetola also reaffirmed the APC’s resolve to reclaim Osun State in 2026, citing the current administration’s alleged failure to justify its substantial federal allocations.
“Today, Osun receives over ₦10 billion monthly from the Federal Government—compared to ₦2 billion during our administration—but there’s nothing tangible to show for it. We must work to return good governance to our people,” he stated.
In a show of party unity, five of the leading APC aspirants, including K-RAD, Senator Jide Omoworare, Omooba Dotun Babayemi, Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji and Senator Mudashiru Hussein, all pledged to run clean, issue-based campaigns and support whoever wins the party’s nomination.
Back in Osogbo, supporters at K-RAD’s event lauded his clarity of vision, humility, and track record, assuring him of their backing in the primaries. The senior advocate, in return, urged party members to unite behind competence and integrity.
“A vote for K-RAD is a vote for Osun’s renaissance. Let us rebuild our state with leadership that listens, leads, and delivers,” he concluded.
