KADUNA: Gov Sani presents N790b budget to assembly for 2025

The proposal prioritizes critical sectors such as education, infrastructure, human capital development, security, and agriculture.

During the presentation at the Kaduna State House of Assembly today, the governor stated that the budget reflects a conservative yet strategic approach to resource allocation, considering current financial challenges.

The budget allocates N553 billion for capital expenditure and N237 billion for recurrent expenditure.

Governor Sani emphasized that the capital expenditure focuses on infrastructure, particularly rural roads, healthcare, education facilities, and housing projects, aiming for a lasting impact on citizens’ economic well-being.

Sector Allocations:

Education: N206.6 billion (26.14%) will fund school construction, rehabilitation, teacher recruitment, training, and learning materials.

Health: N127 billion (16.07%) will upgrade healthcare facilities, procure equipment, and expand mobile healthcare services.

Infrastructure: N106 billion (13.14%) is allocated for road construction, rural electrification, water supply, and public works.

Agriculture: N74 billion (9.36%) will support smallholder farmers, agro-processing, and irrigation projects.

Security: N11.2 billion will enhance state security agencies through equipment procurement and community policing.

Social Welfare: N9.8 billion (1.24%) will expand social safety nets, targeting the elderly, women, and children through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.

Governor Sani described the budget as a commitment to driving inclusive development, improving infrastructure, creating jobs, and investing in Kaduna’s citizens.

He highlighted a consultative budget process involving feedback from town hall meetings, civil society groups, and sector stakeholders.

The governor also urged legislators to approve the budget and pledged collaboration to ensure its implementation, calling 2025 a transformative year for Kaduna State.

Achievements in 2024

Governor Sani highlighted key accomplishments, including:

Recruiting and training 7,000 Kaduna Vigilance Service personnel and equipping them with vehicles and motorcycles.

Constructing a forensic lab and restoring peace in conflict-prone areas like Birnin Gwari, reopening the Kara Livestock Market.

Reducing housing deficits through 300 housing units at Millennium City and nearing completion of mass housing at Kaduna Economic City in partnership with Qatar Charity.

Attracting over $503 million in investments, including foreign direct investments like the Sunagrow Soya Bean Oil Refining Plant and the Ming Xing Lithium Processing Plant.

Supporting 8,649 nano and micro businesses with grants through the Kaduna State Enterprise Development Agency (KADEDA) and empowering 4,912 underserved women through the A Kori Talauchi program.

Governor Sani reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to making Kaduna State a secure, prosperous, and equitable environment for all.
