Speaking on January 22, 2026, the governor highlighted the community’s deep ties to kidnappings and highway assaults, putting both Kaduna State and the nation at grave risk.
His statement came during a visit to Kurmin Wali, near Rijana, following the shocking abduction of 177 church worshippers. Governor Sani assured families that the government is working closely with security agencies to secure their release.
Urging the federal government to establish a permanent military post in Kurmin Wali, he stressed the need for constant security presence to curb frequent attacks. Previous relocation plans under former Governor El-Rufai stalled, leaving the area vulnerable.
