The Governor of Kaduna State, Mr Uba Sani, has commended a citizen of the state, Mr Al’amin Muhammed Idris, for his win at the 2025 NextGen Innovation Challenge held in London in the United Kingdom recently.
Mr Idris emerged as the overall winner of the competition organised by the National Board for Technology Incubation and UKALD Management Consultancy.
The native of Kaduna is the chief executive of Interface Africa. He defeated other innovators number over 3,000 who participated in the contest.
His innovation has attracted about £1.5 million in funding to expand clean energy access across Africa. The winner dedicated the award to “every young African who believes that technology can solve our toughest challenges.”
“I am deeply grateful to Governor Uba Sani for creating an environment where innovation thrives,” Mr Idris added.
Reacting to the feat, Governor Sani described Mr Idris’ win as a source of pride for Kaduna State and Nigeria, saying it showcases the potential of young people in innovation and technology.
“This victory reaffirms the creative strength and global potential of Kaduna’s youth. We are building an innovation-driven economy that rewards ideas, nurtures talent, and delivers opportunities for our people,” the Governor said.
The NextGen Innovation Challenge aims to support innovative solutions to Africa’s problems. Interface Africa, founded by Al-Amin, won the top prize for its impactful and sustainable clean energy solutions.
