Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has said that reconciling his father and Governor Uba Sani is not his responsibility.

In an interview with the BBC Hausa Service monitored in Kaduna on Saturday, Bello stated that his primary focus was on providing quality representation to the people of Kaduna North, his constituency.

Bello expressed his discomfort with the conflict between his father and Governor Uba Sani, saying it’s unpleasant to see two people he respects at odds with each other.

“It is not pleasant for us, even if a person is my enemy, I do not want to see him fighting with another enemy of mine, I want peace,” Bello said.

He likened the situation to the iconic Bollywood rivalry between Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra, suggesting that some people might be entertained by the conflict.

The disagreement between El-Rufai and Uba Sani began when Uba Sani’s administration launched an investigation into the alleged mismanagement of funds during El-Rufai’s tenure.

The investigation led to the questioning and detention of some former officials, sparking a public feud between the two politicians.

Bello emphasized that he wanted peace between his father and Governor Uba Sani, but it’s not his duty to reconcile them. Instead, he’s focused on serving his constituents and providing quality representation.

“I like peace and keeping trust. If someone touches me, we will have an argument with him, but not outside,” Bello said.

He also praised his father, saying, “In my opinion, there is no one as good as Malam Nasiru politically, he only puts his work first. And there is no one I want to be like him, and he is my father, a father is a father.”

“And about him, Governor Uba Sani, all those who are waiting for me to say something about him, it’s surprising.”

Bello’s statement comes as the feud between his father and Governor Uba Sani continues to generate interest and concern among the people of Kaduna State.
