His release was confirmed today in a statement issued by the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, Reverend Father Jacob Shanet. According to the statement, Father Amos was freed by his captors around 10 p.m. yesterday. The Diocese expressed gratitude to security agencies and the general public for their prayers and outpouring of support during the ordeal. Reverend Father Shanet described the widespread concern and prayers as proof that the church is not alone in its commitment to upholding the sanctity and dignity of human life.
