THE police in Kaduna State have arrested four suspected bandits in Chikun Local Government Area, recovering 65 stolen cows.
According to the police, the suspects are cattle rearers who admitted that the cows were delivered to them by a suspected bandit.
Operatives of the police anti-kidnapping unit, acting on credible intelligence, raided the Kakura area in Chikun and apprehended the suspects, identified as Ibrahim Shuaibu alias Magaji, Buhari Ibrahim (both from Kakura), Musa Haruna of Gora, and Abdullahi Idi of Dan Damisa in Zaria.
The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, urged the public to remain vigilant and provide timely information to aid the fight against kidnapping, banditry, and other criminal activities.
He assured citizens of the Command’s commitment to aggressive operations against criminal elements.
Banditry remains one of Nigeria’s most severe security challenges, causing widespread cattle rustling, kidnappings, attacks on villages, and disruption of daily life.
Armed gangs exploit ungoverned areas, primarily in the North-West, to launch attacks on farmers, travellers, and schools.
Despite security forces’ operational successes, such as rescuing victims in Kogi and Kwara states, communities continue to face abductions and economic destabilization.
Analysts stress that coordinated federal, state, and local efforts, alongside socio-economic solutions, are crucial to breaking the cycle of violence.
