THE Kaduna State Police Command has rescued ten victims, including children aged one, three, and thirteen, who were abducted by bandits in Kagarko Local Government Area in May 2025.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, the victims were kidnapped from their homes in Kushe Makaranta village when armed bandits invaded the community in large numbers and took them into a dense forest near Rijana.

DSP Hassan explained that the victims were rescued on October 7, following a coordinated operation by a combined team of the Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and military personnel.

He revealed that sustained pressure from the security forces forced the kidnappers to flee their hideout, abandoning the hostages.

The rescued victims have been identified as Helen Abraham, Rosemary Elisha, Jummai Istifanus, Hauwa’u Sule, Mary Sunday, Kelvin Abraham, Devine Elisha, Jeremiah Istifanus, Christabeth Abraham, and Hauwa Sulaiman — all residents of Kushe Makaranta village.

Upon rescue, the victims were taken to the Police Clinic for medical examination and treatment.

After two days of observation, they were declared stable and reunited with their families.

The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, commended the operatives for their professionalism and commitment, assuring residents of the Command’s unwavering resolve to tackle banditry and other criminal activities in the state.

He reiterated the police’s determination to ensure the safety and security of all residents, urging citizens to continue cooperating with security agencies to sustain recent gains in the fight against insecurity.
