Warning! Spoilers for Expatriate X-Men #1 ahead!
MCU MVP Kamala Khan is the leader of X-Men’s hardcore new mutant strikeforce. In the dire Age of Revelation future, a group of insurgent fighters loyal to what is left of the United States wage war on the corrupted mutant forces of the villainous Revelation, with Ms. Marvel as one of their heavy hitters.
Expatriate X-Men #1 is written by Eve L. Ewing, with art by Francesco Moratino. The Age of Revelation tie-in miniseries drops readers into the war-torn border of the Revelation territories and the U.S.
With its blend of war story elements and classic Marvel superhero action, Expatriate X-Men is arguably the most intriguing of all the event series’ interconnected books.
Ms. Marvel’s Guerrilla Mutant Squad Is The Most Hardcore “Age Of Revelation” Roster Yet
Expatriate X-Men #1, Written By Eve L. Ewing, Art By Francesco Moratino; Available October 29, 2025 From Marvel Comics
Expatriate X-Men’s premise reads like a blend between Apocalypse Now and Red Dawn. Kamala Khan and her team are set to fight their way up the Mississippi River, on their way to an altercation with former mutant hero Magik, now the dark ruler of the “Limbo Lands.” This promises an action-heavy, spectacle-filled three-issue run for the series.
Kamala Khan’s band of mutant guerrillas includes classic X-Men heroes like Colossus and Mystique, along with newer mutants such as Bronze and Melee. Ms. Marvel is a certified veteran Marvel hero at this point, especially given her status as a fan-favorite MCU hero. As such, she takes center stage in Expatriate X-Men.
The team in Expatriate X-Men is stacked with badasses, but it’s their status as front-line fighters against an overpowered enemy that makes them a particularly hardcore squad, one that has the potential to leave a lasting mark on X-Men lore. The series also offers a different style and tone than many of the other Age of Revelation books.
“Expatriate X-Men” Is A Mutant War Story That Takes The “Age Of Revelation” To The Extreme
Kamala Khan And Her Team Are On A Deadly Mission
The X-franchise’s current Age of Revelation event series has delivered high-stakes and intense drama so far, and Expatriate X-Men seems poised to take the crossover’s premise to its greatest level yet. The miniseries illuminates a corner of this dark Marvel future that feels distant from the main storyline, but could still wind up having significant consequences.
As part of the overall project of integrating Kamala Khan into the X-Men franchise, it is also poised to be another major step forward. As a starring vehicle for Ms. Marvel, Expatriate X-Men can make the case for her as an essential mutant hero, and a leader for the next generation of mutants.
The Age of Revelation is expansive, including more than a dozen spin-off series. All of them offer a unique angle of the crossover’s core premise, but Expatriate X-Men stands out as a must-read because of its specific blend of genre elements, which suggest the potential for one of Marvel’s most distinct X-Men stories in years.
Expatriate X-Men #1 will be available October 29, 2025 from Marvel Comics.
