The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has commenced an investigation into the alleged diversion of more than N4 billion of state funds into the Dala Inland Dry Port.

The probe focuses on allegations that multi-billion-naira infrastructure contracts were awarded at the port during the administration of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, shortly after the state’s 20 percent equity was allegedly converted to the Ganduje family in 2020.

According to reports, the transaction effectively removed Kano State as a shareholder and installed Ganduje’s children as directors and shareholders in the multi-billion-naira enterprise.

By the time the contracts were awarded, the state reportedly no longer had any stake in the project.

Saidu Yahya, chairman of the PCACC, confirmed that the probe was initiated following public petitions over the alleged misappropriation.

“Yes, we received petitions from the public on the alleged over N4bn Kano State fund diverted into the Dala Inland Dry Port by the immediate past administration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje,” Yahya said.

He further revealed that several individuals of interest had been invited, with one person arrested and later released on bail after providing key information.

“Investigation revealed that one of the parties is now in Yola, Adamawa State,” Yahya added.

The PCACC chairman stated that the matter would soon be taken to court, noting that a prima facie case has been established.
