THE District Head of Kabo in Kano State and Sarkin Gabas of the Kano Emirate, Alhaji Idris Adamu Dankabo, has passed away at the age of 48.
Dankabo lost his life yesterday night in a fatal motor accident in Kano metropolis.
His death was officially confirmed by the Kano Emirate Council through its Facebook platform, Sanusi Dynasty.
The late ruler was the eldest son of the late Alhaji Muhammad Adamu Dankabo, founder of the defunct Kabo Air and a respected Jarma of Kano, who was a prominent figure in business, politics, and philanthropy.
Idris Dankabo is survived by his wife and two children. His funeral prayer is scheduled to hold today, Friday, at 10 a.m. at the Emir’s Palace in Kano, with the Emir expected to lead the rites.
The Dankabo family has long been considered one of the most influential in Kano. Kabo Air, established by his father in 1980, once operated domestic and international routes before refocusing on charter and Hajj services in the 2000s.
As Sarkin Gabas, Idris Dankabo held one of the most senior titles within the Kano Emirate, a role that carried significant cultural and administrative weight.
His untimely death leaves a vacuum in the emirate’s traditional leadership at a time when such roles remain vital in Northern Nigeria.
