WATCH THE VIDEO HERE AS the emirship tussel in Kano continues, the reinstated and deposed emirs today, both led Eid el-Kabir prayers at separate prayer grounds around the state. Due to rain, Emir Muhammad Sanusi II and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf led prayers inside the Kofar Mata Juma’at Mosque, while Emir Aminu Ado Bayero prayed at the Nassarawa Mini Palace Mosque. Following the prayer, Emir Sanusi II went to Gidan Shettima Palace in Kofar Kwaru and held a mini durbar in defiance of the prohibition imposed by the Kano State Police Command. After reciting the two-unit prayers behind Emir Sanusi II, Governor Yusuf urged Kano residents to stay quiet and peaceful as they conduct their legitimate business. Although the governor stated that the police in the state did not consult him before deciding to ban the colourful durbar events, the police maintained the ban was necessary for peace and security. Ahmad Yakasai, a former state commissioner who prayed alongside Emir Bayero, expressed gratitude for the state’s peace despite the Emirship tussle.
