FORMER National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has staged a political comeback with his first major appearance since stepping down from the party’s leadership three months ago.
Ganduje, today, held a closed-door strategy session with Kano APC stakeholders in Abuja, a meeting aimed at strengthening the party’s structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In attendance were Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, Senator Kawu Sumaila, several members of the House of Representatives, and other party chieftains.
During the meeting, Ganduje urged party members to actively mobilise supporters for the ongoing voter registration exercise.
“Let’s encourage our people to register. So far, we are doing well, and we want to assure the people of Kano State that our members will come out in large numbers during the elections to secure victory,” he said.
Deputy Senate President Barau reaffirmed Kano APC leaders’ support for President Bola Tinubu, highlighting federal interventions in education and infrastructure as proof of the administration’s commitment.
The party leaders also pledged to reclaim Kano State from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), which currently holds power under Governor Abba Yusuf.
Ganduje, who resigned as APC National Chairman on June 27 citing personal reasons, had led the party from August 2023 to June 2025.
His tenure was marked by internal zoning controversies but also by efforts to consolidate APC’s influence.
Following his resignation, Ali Dalori briefly acted as chairman until Nentawe Yilwatda was elected substantive National Chairman in July.
A two-term former governor of Kano, Ganduje was appointed Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) in July 2025.
His return to frontline politics signals a renewed push by APC to rebuild its dominance in Kano ahead of 2027.
