The Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has formally resigned from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
He resigned alongside 21 members of the State House of Assembly, eight members of the House of Representatives and 44 local government chairmen in the state.
In a letter addressed to the chairman of Diso-Chiranchi ward of the NNPP in Gwale LGA of Kano, the governor cited “deepening internal crises” and “prolonged leadership disputes” as key reasons for his exit.
According to the letter, the resignation is taking effect from January 25, 2026.
