KANO: Govt implements N71,000 minimum wage for civil servants

This initiative, coming just three weeks after the committee’s recommendations were approved, ensures that civil servants received their November salaries reflecting the new increment, consistent with the state’s tradition of paying salaries on the 25th of each month.

The Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and praised the governor for delivering on his promise.

“From the moment His Excellency announced the salary increase, I had confidence that his words would translate into action,” he stated.

Encouraging civil servants to respond with dedication, Musa called on them to improve service delivery, urging hard work and accountability.

“This increment is a reminder for us to work diligently and with the fear of God to justify our earnings,” he advised.

He also emphasized prudent management of the increased income. “Avoid unnecessary spending and use this opportunity to improve your living conditions,” he cautioned.

In addition, the Head of Service disclosed that allowances for health workers had also been initiated as part of the government’s efforts to enhance workers’ welfare.

The announcement was met with enthusiasm among civil servants. Many described the revised wage as a relief from economic hardship.

A public school teacher lauded the governor’s commitment, saying, “This increment will inspire us to perform better in our roles.”

Aliyu Yusuf, the Director of Public Enlightenment in the Office of the Head of Civil Service, reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to workers’ welfare and urged civil servants to remain committed to their responsibilities.
