WATCH THE VIDEO HERE The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has been urged to intervene in a case of alleged injustice where Malam Surajo Yarima’s house, valued at approximately ₦20 million, was allegedly sold by a court for just ₦2 million. In an interview with Hikima Radio/TV, monitored in Kano yesterday, Yarima claimed that his house was auctioned by a court to offset a ₦300,000 debt he failed to repay after being sued by a creditor. According to him, he failed to appear in court despite multiple summon notices pasted on his house gate because he was out of the state at the time. As a result, the court proceeded to auction his house, leaving Yarima, his wife, and nine children homeless. Yarima explained that he has since managed to gather the ₦300,000 debt, but the creditor rejected his offer. The court, however, clarified that he had three weeks to appeal the judgment, but he missed the deadline. “The house was auctioned on 4th January, and I brought the ₦300,000 on 6th January, but my creditor refused to accept it. I am now sleeping outside with my family,” he lamented. Yarima is now appealing to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to intervene in the matter and ensure justice is served.
