THE Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intensified its crackdown on drug-related activities, conducting major raids across several notorious drug hubs in the metropolis.

The operation, carried out yesterday, targeted key areas known for drug trafficking and abuse, including Fagge, Kwarin Kaya, Kofar Wambai, and Kofar Mata.

The raids led to the arrest of 18 suspects linked to various drug offenses and the seizure of significant quantities of illicit substances.

Confirming the development, NDLEA Public Relations Officer, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, reiterated the agency’s dedication to combating drug crimes.

“This operation is part of our ongoing efforts to rid Kano of drug-related activities. Our officers raided identified hotspots and successfully apprehended suspects in possession of illicit substances such as Cannabis Sativa and Rubber Solution,” Maigatari stated.

He further revealed that locally made dangerous weapons were also recovered, particularly in Kwarin Kaya, where some suspects attempted to intimidate law enforcement officers.

“The raid at Kwarin Kaya was especially tense as certain individuals tried to threaten our operatives from a distance. However, our team remained steadfast, ensuring the operation proceeded without disruption,” he added.

Reaffirming the agency’s commitment, NDLEA State Commander, AI Ahmad, vowed to sustain efforts in dismantling drug syndicates and prosecuting offenders.

“We will continue to take down drug networks and ensure those involved in drug trafficking and abuse face the full weight of the law. Our goal is to make Kano a drug-free state and secure our communities,” Ahmad emphasized.

He assured that all suspects arrested during the operation would undergo thorough investigation and be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
